Big telecom companies band together to form open-source project for network functions virtualization

Companies like Cisco, Juniper Networks and Nokia Networks along with the Linux Foundation are hoping that the Open Platform for NFV Project will develop a standard for NFV, a network architecture concept that calls for all aspects of networking to be virtualized. Big-name telecom providers and networking manufacturers, like Brocade and Cisco, have joined together under the auspices of the Linux Foundation to help develop a standardized open-source framework for network functions virtualization .
